first - the flowers are indeed gorgeous . . . second - my heart just breaks when I hear a story like that - I have a kinship for the other beings that live on the earth, too, and I have also run into lithoid like humans when attempting to deal with hurt animals. What I've come to see is that most agencies aren't about helping the animals, but about removing the animals out of people's view. Is there a vet in your area that might be able to help you with the racoon? There are also often independent wildlife rehabilitators (people who like to help animals and do it because they feel to, not because they are part of an agency)- if you call around to the different animal shelters in your area they'll have names and numbers. I hope it works out . . . our fuzzy friends are having a rough way to go these days . . . good for you for caring enough to try and help . . . :)
